Lisbon Falls, Maine, is located on the Androscoggin River, about 10 miles upriver from the fall line in Brunswick. The river here tumbles over a set of falls. It powers a hydro station and until about decade ago provided power to the Worumbo Mill, a dominant architectural feature at the foot of Lisbon Falls's Maine Street. After being vacant since 2006 the last significant portion of the Worumbo Mill, built in 1920, was torn down i nthe summer of 2016, opening up a view of the river and changing profoundly how the place looks.
